ALMA-CONSTANCE DENIS-SMITH - taught by Julia Klimek - Romanian Folk Dances, Sz.56 (B. Bartók) Alma-Constance, 14, has been playing the piano since she was 6 years old as a pupil of Julia Klimek. She is a multiple award winner at piano competitions in the UK and Europe and the current holder of the Bach Cup at the Ealing Music Festival 2024. In September 2022 she joined the Junior Department at the Royal Academy of Music.  She is fluent in three languages and is a competitive fencer, a sport she loves and took up two years ago.   Alma has involved herself in the celebration of women in law. She led a 2018 charity appeal, raising over £12,000 for the publication of the book First: 100 Years of Women in Law. I currently study at the prestigious Hurtwood House, where I was awarded a Performing Arts Scholarship. Prior to this, I was a full-time student at Sylvia Young Theatre School, and also studied part-time at the Royal Academy of Music and Emil Dale Academy. Recently, I had the pleasure of performing the role of Felicia Gabriel in The Witches of Eastwick, a role I will be reprising for the National School Theatre Awards after my school was nominated for Best Show and Best Ensemble. My performance was recently praised as a "showstopping performance" by Muddy Stilettos. While my main focus is Musical Theatre, I also enjoy exploring classical pieces whenever time allows. I have been playing the piano for around seven years and am currently preparing for my ABRSM Grade 8 exam. I enjoy exploring different musical styles, but I am especially drawn to expressive and emotionally rich pieces. GRACE CHEE - taught by Kenny Fu - Prelude and Fugue No 2 in C minor WTC Book 1 BWV 847 (J.S. Bach) Grace is 13 years old, attends the City of London School for Girls. She enjoys playing piano and violin. She currently studies piano with Kenny Fu and violin with Mark Pedus. She started playing piano when she was seven. The choice of her pieces generally gravitates towards the classical and baroque era. She chose the piece Prelude and Fugue No 2 in C minor WTC Book 1 BWV 847, because she finds it has a wonderful sense of playfulness, spontaneity and joy. JOHN OKIKIOLA OKUKENU - taught by Kenny Fu - “Galop Final” from Undici Pezzi Infantili, Op. 35 (A. Casella) I was born in London, England in 1957. As a child of 6 years of age I started piano lessons at Boarding school, Christs College, Blackheath in Greenwich. I continued lessons on and off until my teens but 'lost my way' trying to play pop music. However I always felt life was not complete without recommencing piano lessons. Eleven years ago I restarted piano lessons but vowed to do it properly. I got myself a piano teacher and enrolled n Trinity College for examinations (Grade 2). In 2018 I found my present teacher who I am very fortunate to have (Kenny Fu).  I have been his student since then and hope to take the grade 6 exams soon.
